The mirror is empty now.
You’ve stepped away, somewhere behind me, but I can still feel your presence. My reflection holds still. She has not moved. Not since the instruction. Not since you placed my hand resting exactly where it is now. Every part of me is waiting for the next command, but it doesn’t come.
This silence is the intention.
I glance at her again, this vision of myself. Her cheeks are flushed. Her hair is slightly disturbed near the temple. One side of her blouse is open just wide enough to suggest a mistake. I can see the effort it costs her to stay still. She looks like she is trying to pass for composed.
My hand is still between my thighs. I want to move it. I want to pull it away or press harder. I want something definite, something that doesn’t ask me to linger in this unbearable middle.
You have trained me to live in the sensual purgatory.
I shift slightly, the smallest adjustment of posture. Not disobedient, not really, but the bench creaks under the motion and betrays me. I freeze. The sound reverberates through the room and seems louder than it should be.
I wonder if you heard it.
I hope you did.
I return my gaze to her. The girl in the glass. She looks different than when we started. Her expression is not blank anymore. It is complicated. There is a tightness in her mouth. A wetness in her eyes that is not about sadness. She has stopped performing and started submitting. That change frightens me. And excites me.
There is heat now. Low, persistent, almost aching. I try not to move against it. I imagine you watching from the corner. I imagine that you see the tremor in my legs. I imagine you not moving, not speaking, just witnessing. That is somehow worse than touch. Worse than instruction.
A minute passes. Maybe more.
My body doesn’t know what to do with the quiet. Without your voice to guide it, it begins to listen to other things. The sound of my breath. The throb in my fingertips. The pressure I’ve placed exactly where you told me to. The scent of my own skin, warmer now. Changed.
When you finally speak, it is from behind my shoulder.
"You're learning what silence can do."
I close my eyes. The statement is not a compliment. It is a calibration. A correction. I nod once, barely. I want to speak, but I know better. If I open my mouth now, the wrong thing will come out. Need is clumsy. It trips over itself. You would hear it and make me wait longer.
I stare at the mirror and see her blink. That is all she does. A small, useless rebellion.
"Good," you say. "Now breathe. Stay exactly as you are."
I inhale through my nose. Slowly. I hold it, and then release. I count inside my head to manage the pace. Four in, six out. Again. I need something to hold onto. Something to anchor me.
But your voice returns and takes it from me.
"Slide your hand higher."
My breath stumbles.
The instruction is simple, but devastating. It arrives with surgical softness. I obey, lifting my fingers incrementally, but I don’t let them reach their destination. Not yet. I wait. Because I want you to see the hesitation. I want you to understand what this costs me. My defiance is not disobedience. It is offering.
You step forward, closer. I can see you now in the edge of the mirror. Just a suggestion of your form. A shadow in tailored fabric. You do not touch me.
"Let her do it," you say.
I know you mean her, the girl in the mirror.
I lift my hand fully, cup myself through the fabric, and the shock of contact burns. My thighs close around the sensation without permission. My head tilts back slightly. I catch it before it becomes too visible.
You are watching. You say nothing.
My other hand tightens on the bench. I want friction. I want motion. But you haven't allowed it. My fingers stay still. Just resting. Just feeling. It is more arousing than anything I can remember.
"Now hold still for one minute," you say. "And then we'll begin."
I exhale too fast. I almost speak. Almost beg. But I catch it and bite down hard on the inside of my cheek.
Sixty seconds of stillness. After everything.
I understand now. This isn't a delay. This is the point.
You are not trying to restrain my body.
You are teaching it how to want.
